Biography

Super8 & Tab are a Finnish trance production-and-DJ duo composed of Miika Eloranta (Super8) and Janne Mansnerus (Tab). The two met while working out of the same recording complex in Helsinki and began producing together in 2005. Their first joint release, "First Aid", appeared on Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats label in 2005, and they have stayed signed long-term to that imprint ever since — making them one of the longest-running act-label relationships in the wider trance world. The breakthrough came in 2006 with "Helsinki Scorchin'", an Anjunabeats instrumental widely credited with kickstarting the "hybrid trance" sound — the fusion of progressive-trance arrangement DNA with electro-house rhythmic punch and the harmonic content of the late-90s/early-2000s Finnish trance lineage. The track is still routinely cited as one of the most iconic instrumentals in the Anjunabeats catalogue, and was reissued in a 2019 self-remix. Their two artist albums on Anjunabeats — Empire (2010) and Unified (2014) — extended the catalogue into full-length progressive trance, both topping the Beatport trance album chart, while singles including "Irufushi", "Black Is The New Yellow", and "Let Go" became staples of the late-2000s and 2010s Anjunabeats live and radio circuit. They have played EDC, Ultra, Tomorrowland and A State of Trance, and have charted in DJ Magazine's Top 100 across multiple years. Within the Anjunabeats family Super8 & Tab represent the more uplifting, peak-time end of the label's progressive lineage — the bridge between Above & Beyond's vocal-anchored core and the harder Anjuna export that came later via Ilan Bluestone, Andrew Bayer and Genix. The duo also curated Super8 & Tab Presents: 20 Years Of Anjunabeats as part of the label's anniversary editorial programme, a credit that sums up how deeply embedded they are in the imprint's institutional memory.

Sound Style

Hybrid trance — progressive arrangement DNA with electro-house punch in the rhythm section, harmonic content drawn from the late-90s/early-2000s Finnish trance lineage, and the polished melodic craft that the Anjunabeats editorial direction defined across the 2000s and 2010s.
