Yoni Oshrat, performing as Ace Ventura, is one of the headline names on Iboga Records and a defining figure of the modern progressive-psytrance scene. Born in Tel Aviv into a musical family — his father is a noted Israeli composer who wrote the Eurovision-winning "Hallelujah" — Oshrat worked in the TV and film industry as a sound producer before fully committing to electronic music in the early 1990s. After several years of DJing he formed the Children of the Doc project with DJ Goblin, which later rebranded as Psysex, releasing three full-length albums on HOMmega Productions across the early 2000s.
In 2006 his musical taste shifted toward the slower, groovier progressive end of the psy spectrum, and he left Psysex to launch the Ace Ventura solo project. His 2007 debut solo album Rebirth on Iboga Records was widely cited as one of the year's biggest psy releases and won him the Psytrance category at the 2008 Beatport Music Awards. The remix album Re:Boot (2008) and Future Memories (2010) consolidated the project's editorial direction.
Beyond his solo work, Oshrat collaborates extensively across the Iboga ecosystem: Alpha Portal (with Astrix), Alien Art (with Captain Hook), Liquid Ace (with Liquid Soul), and Acid Punks (with Outsiders). The Psy-Nation compilation series compiled with Liquid Soul has extended his editorial influence beyond his own catalogue. Ace Ventura performs regularly at Boom Festival, Ozora, Universo Paralello, and the global progressive-psy circuit, and his sets emphasise the long-form melodic build that has come to define the modern Iboga aesthetic.
Sound Style
Driving, melodic progressive psytrance — clean 138 BPM grooves, long emotional builds, and pad-led breakdowns. The bridge between full-on psy and progressive house.
