Biography

Anyma is the solo project of Matteo Milleri, one half of the influential Italian melodic-techno duo Tale of Us. Launched as a standalone identity in 2021, Anyma has rapidly become one of the defining names of the modern melodic-techno-into-progressive-trance crossover — a sound that has reshaped what large-format dance music looks and sounds like in the 2020s. His Genesys trilogy — Genesys (2023), Genesys II (2023), and The End of Genesys (2024) — established a sweeping conceptual aesthetic: orchestral synth textures, a recurring fascination with humanity, AI, and consciousness, and full-spectacle audiovisual live productions. Tracks like "Eternity" with Chris Avantgarde and "Consciousness" with Cassian have become defining records of the era and crossed into rotation at trance-aligned events including Group Therapy, Tomorrowland Mainstage, and ASOT. Anyma's Welcome to the Opera residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas in 2024-2025 — a multi-night production with bespoke immersive visuals on the world's largest LED screen — set a new standard for what an electronic-music live show could look like. The Sphere shows alone justify his inclusion in any contemporary discussion of progressive electronic music's leading edge. While not strictly a trance artist by any narrow definition, Anyma's sound is built on the same architecture — long arrangement arcs, monumental breakdowns, emotional vocal hooks, and the explicit pursuit of communal transcendence — that defined classic uplifting and progressive trance. For a generation of younger fans who grew up on Afterlife rather than ASOT, Anyma is the contemporary face of the same impulse, and trance fans curious about where the genre's emotional vocabulary is being most ambitiously extended in the 2020s should start here.

Sound Style

Cinematic melodic techno bordering on progressive trance — slow-burn 124-126 BPM grooves, monumental synth pads, and emotionally charged vocal manipulation. Live shows are full-spectacle audiovisual productions on a scale typically reserved for arena pop.
