Biography

Laura van Dam is a Dutch DJ and producer based in Amsterdam, working at the progressive house / melodic techno / trance crossover edge. She fell in love with electronic music at the age of twelve, and her music career broke open at seventeen when she won a DJ contest at the Blue Marlin Ibiza. She graduated in Electronic Music Production and studied Audio Engineering at the SAE Institute in Amsterdam — a formal-training background that distinguishes her from much of the festival-name peer group. Her releases are spread across an unusually broad label set for an artist in her career bracket: Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats, Armada Music, Tiësto's AFTR:HRS, Enhanced Music, Toolroom's ZeroThree progressive imprint, Epic247 Recordings, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's Smash Deep, Nicky Romero's Protocol Recordings, and Sander van Doorn's DOORN Records. Catalogue highlights include her Smash Deep debut "More Love", her 2023 AFTR:HRS debut "Dawn", "Blow Up The Speakers" on Epic247 closing out the same year, and the 2024 Enhanced singles "This Feeling" and "How Does It Feel". She hosts the weekly Capture Radio podcast / radio show, which airs on SLAM in the Netherlands and blends trance, techno and progressive house across each episode. Within the trance ecosystem Laura van Dam sits at the modern crossover edge — closer to the progressive/melodic-techno school of Anjunabeats and the Armada modern roster than to the FSOE 138 uplifting mainline, but with an explicit trance influence that has placed her on main-support slots for Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond and on bookings at Tomorrowland, Ultra, EDC, Sziget, Red Rocks, Brooklyn Mirage and Ushuaïa Ibiza. 1001Tracklists labelled her "The Future of Dance" — a tag that maps onto the broader 2020s emergence of female progressive / melodic-trance producers reshaping the converged festival mainstage.

Sound Style

Progressive house, melodic techno and trance folded into a single set DNA — deep, driving rhythm sections with melodic-trance breakdown architecture, the polished song-led arrangement craft that the Anjunabeats and Armada editorial directions have refined across the late 2010s and 2020s.
