Dmitry Almazov, performing as Bobina, is the most internationally successful trance producer to emerge from Russia. Born in Moscow in 1979, he started releasing trance material in 1999 and built his early catalogue through small Eastern European labels before signing to Tiësto's Black Hole Recordings in the mid-2000s. The Black Hole signing brought his production to international attention and aligned him with the Magik Muzik sub-label's vocal-trance editorial direction.
Bobina's albums Time & Tide (2008) and Again (2010) on Black Hole consolidated his international profile, with subsequent records Beautiful Friend (2011), Rhythm of the Dance (2014), and a continuing release calendar through Armada placing him among the most-published trance producers of his generation. His characteristic Slavic harmonic palette — minor-key progressions, full-orchestral pads, song-led structure — gives his catalogue a distinctive sonic identity within the broader European vocal-trance scene, and his collaborations with vocalists including Susana, Tiff Lacey, and Christian Burns have become catalogue references.
Beyond original releases, Bobina hosts the Russian Trancemission radio show, which has been broadcasting weekly since 2007 and remains one of the longest continuously-running trance radio programmes in production — a parallel to Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance in the Eastern European scene. He has charted across Europe, performed at Tomorrowland, ASOT, EDC, and Transmission editions worldwide, and represents Russian trance on a scale matched in the modern era only by Arty. Bobina continues to release on Armada and Black Hole and remains a fixture of the global ASOT touring circuit.
Sound Style
Melodic vocal uplifting with Slavic harmonic colour — emotive minor-key progressions, full-orchestral pads, and a song-led approach. Equally comfortable in pure trance and pop-crossover modes.
