Biography

Mark Sixma, born Mark Frederik Sixma on 23 February 1983 in Breda, Netherlands, is a Dutch trance and house producer who studied classical piano as a child and built his initial reputation under the alias M6 in the late 2000s. The 2008 release "Fade 2 Black" — on Armada's Captivating Sounds sub-label and credited to "Mark Sixma presents M6" — earned A State of Trance Tune of the Week and led to his Armada signing, after which he progressively shifted his primary output to the Mark Sixma name. His catalogue peaked in the mid-2010s with the tracks that still define him: "Requiem" (2013) — described in the genre press as the most-played trance track of 2013 — followed by "Adagio for Strings" (2014), the Andrew Rayel collaboration "Chased" (2015), and "Panta Rhei" with Armin van Buuren (2015). Later signatures include "Sinfonia" (2018) and "X" (2019), and he has remained an in-rotation Armada artist across both A State of Trance programming and the wider Armada singles calendar. Beyond Armada he has released through Mainstage Music (W&W's label), Revealed Recordings (Hardwell's imprint), and Black Hole Recordings, and his collaborator network spans Armin van Buuren, Andrew Rayel, W&W, Faruk Sabanci and Ferry Corsten. His 2026 output continues at that pace. "Bring The Fire" is track 41 on the A State of Trance 2026 compilation (released 8 May 2026), sitting at 148 BPM in E Major in the Energy mix — and the "Bring Back The Techno" collaboration with Ørjan Nilsen and Nilsix arrived on Armind earlier in the year. Both releases place him alongside the producers who define the Armada modern direction more than eighteen years after the M6-era debut.

Sound Style

Mainstage-scale progressive trance — driving four-on-the-floor with melodic-uplifting structure, festival-grade arrangement, and the kind of peak-time energy the Armada modern roster is built around. Classical-piano-trained melodic instincts surface across the catalogue.
