Biography

Matty Ralph is a producer from County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, whose lifelong fascination with classic trance has positioned him as a pacesetter for the current rave revival. His older brother introduced him to dance music early via compilations like Godskitchen Classics, Euphoria, and Paul van Dyk's Reflections, and the late-90s / early-2000s Balearic-trance era — roughly 1998-2004 — became the formative reference point that still drives the catalogue today. He began running his own branded nights in Liverpool in 2018 as a student, playing alongside techno names like Jay Lumen, T78 and Umek to build a profile, then continued promoting locally in Northern Ireland after moving home during the pandemic. The breakout release was "1999" on Ben Hemsley's bebé recordings — a high-energy emotional banger built around the late-90s Balearic-trance template that scored his first Beatport top-ten and was widely picked up across the trance-revival circuit. Subsequent releases have placed him across Armada, Rave Alert, DOOF, Dreamstate Records (Insomniac), and Polyamor Berlin, and he played the Void Stage at Dreamstate SoCal 2025. Within the trance ecosystem Matty Ralph sits in the rave-revival lane alongside Ben Hemsley, Hannah Laing, Rozie, and Tyler Jack — a generation of younger producers explicitly rebuilding the late-90s sound rather than continuing the FSOE / Anjuna mainline. The lane has been one of the most commercially visible parts of the 2024-2026 trance resurgence, and Matty Ralph is one of its more editorially focused names.

Sound Style

Nostalgia-rich rave-trance — informed by techno, hard house, hard dance, and the 1998-2004 Balearic trance era, but built with modern production discipline aimed squarely at the current festival mainstage.
