Biography

Adam Standerwick is a Birmingham-based British producer who spent the first decade of his production career building a steady catalogue on Aly & Fila's Future Sound of Egypt before crossing over to Anjunabeats and Monstercat in the mid-2010s. He started releasing in 2008 on FSOE and built his early profile through the harder 138 BPM Pure Trance / Subculture lineage that surrounded the late-2000s FSOE editorial direction. His 2017 three-way collaboration with Gareth Emery and vocalist HALIENE on "Saving Light" — released through Garuda and Monstercat — became one of the most-played trance tracks of the year and a HALIENE-era reference point. The follow-up "FOMO" with HALIENE (2018, Black Hole Recordings) defined the modern emotional-uplifting subgenre that combines pop song structure, soaring chorus melody, melodic-bass production polish, and psy-influenced rhythm programming. The 2018 trilogy was completed by "Trinity" (with Gareth Emery and HALIENE) and "Maybe" (with HALIENE), and the 2018 remix of Faithless' "Insomnia" extended his commercial reach beyond the trance circuit. Subsequent releases including "Shouldn't Have Sent That" (2019) and his continuing FSOE / Anjunabeats / Captured Music output have placed Standerwick at the centre of the late-2010s vocal-uplifting evolution. His catalogue has remixed major tracks across both the FSOE and Anjuna rosters, and his collaboration network spans Aly & Fila, Gareth Emery, HALIENE, Ruben de Ronde, and Ilan Bluestone. The emergence of "emotional uplifting" as a distinct contemporary subgenre — between traditional 138 BPM trance and Monstercat-adjacent melodic bass — is closely associated with Standerwick's editorial direction across the past five years.

Sound Style

Melodic, vocal-driven uplifting trance with crossover-pop song structure and a clear psy-trance influence in the rhythm programming. "FOMO" became a template that countless producers chased through the late 2010s.
