Aly & Fila

Aly Amr Fathalah and Fadi Wassef Naguib began producing together as Aly & Fila in Cairo in 2002 — a time when Egypt was an unlikely place to launch a global trance career. Within a few years, their FSOE radio show (Future Sound of Egypt) had become a fixture of the international scene, and the brand grew into a label, an event series, and an entire ecosystem dedicated to preserving the 138 BPM uplifting sound. Their albums Rising Sun (2010), Quiet Storm (2014), The Other Shore (2018), and It's All About the Melody (2021) form one of the genre's most consistent bodies of work. Tracks like "Eye of Horus," "Beyond the Lights," and their many vocal collaborations with Sue McLaren and Susana have become reference points for what pure uplifting trance can sound like in the modern era. What distinguishes Aly & Fila is their ideological commitment. While much of the trance scene drifted toward big-room, EDM, or progressive influences in the 2010s, FSOE held the line — refusing to abandon the 138 BPM tempo, the rolling bassline structure, and the emotional drama that defined classical uplifting trance. For a substantial community of fans, FSOE became the home of "real" trance, and the duo's annual events at venues like London's Coronet and Avalon Hollywood draw devoted crowds who travel internationally to attend. The label has also become an important platform for new artists, signing the likes of Bryan Kearney, Sneijder, and John O'Callaghan in their early careers. Whether headlining Tomorrowland's ASOT stage or selling out their own FSOE 600/700/800/900/1000 milestone events, Aly & Fila stand as one of the most consistent and principled forces in modern trance.
