Ørjan Nilsen

Ørjan Nilsen is a Norwegian DJ and producer born in 1982 in Kirkenes, a small town in the far north of Norway near the Russian border. He has been a fixture of the Armada Music ecosystem since the mid-2000s, and his catalogue ranges across uplifting, progressive, electro and mainstage trance — the kind of broad sonic identity that the Armada modern era was built on rather than any single subgenre lane. His relationship with Armada began with the 2006 release "Red Woods" under his DJ Governor alias, after which he settled into releasing primarily under his own name. Signature singles include "La Guitarra" (2008), "So Long Radio" and "Lovers Lane" (both 2010), and his three artist albums on Armada: In My Opinion (2011), No Saint Out of Me (2013), and Prism (2018). Across those records and the singles around them he became a regular ID-spot artist on Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance radio show and a recurring booking on the ASOT festival editions. Nilsen occupies a particular position in the trance ecosystem: not narrowly an uplifting purist, not a fully crossed-over big-room producer, but a Norwegian craftsman who has stayed close to the Armada family through three eras — the late-2000s Dutch-trance peak, the 2010s mainstage convergence, and the current revival period. That long-arc loyalty is what makes him a recognisable "ASOT family" name rather than just another Armada signing.
