microCastle

microCastle was founded in 2009 in Toronto by Mitch Alexander as a focused progressive imprint operating in the same long-form, harmonically generous editorial space that Hooj Choons and Bedrock had defined a decade earlier. From the start the label prioritised carefully-curated EPs and singles over volume releases — a small catalogue of patient, structurally-attentive progressive house and progressive trance that has earned a dedicated following among connoisseurs of the form. Alexander passed away in June 2025, and the label continues to honour the editorial standard he set. The label's release flow has hosted material from Soundprank (Marcelo Vasami), Henry Saiz, Guy J, Estiva, Audiojack, and many other artists working in the long-form progressive register. The microCastle compilation series and the touring microCastle event brand have built a respected boutique presence in the North American progressive scene. The label sits comfortably alongside Sudbeat, Last Night On Earth, and the Anjunadeep family as part of the modern progressive heartland — a North American voice in a genre still dominated by European editorial centres.
