TIP Records

TIP Records was founded in 1994 in London, UK by Raja Ram, Graham Wood, and Ian St Paul, who were also active as the production project The Infinity Project (TIP). Though the idea took shape in 1993 around the Goa-trance party scene, the label itself operated out of London from launch. It took its name from the production project and became the central document of the original Goa trance sound — a label name that, alongside Dragonfly Records, defines an entire era of electronic music. TIP's mid-1990s catalogue is foundational psy-trance history: releases by Hallucinogen (Simon Posford), Doof, Total Eclipse, Slinky Wizard, X-Dream, and many of the artists who would shape the global psytrance scene. The Infinity Project's own album Mystical Experiences (1995) is a defining Goa-trance document. Raja Ram's later collaboration with Hallucinogen as Shpongle further extended TIP's influence into ambient, experimental, and modern psybient territory. The label has gone through various incarnations and is now operated as TIP World, continuing to release psytrance and historical reissues.
