Biography

Ferry Tayle is the French uplifting trance producer Ludovic Meyer, born in 1982 and based in Strasbourg in the Alsace region of France. He started musical life on jazz saxophone from the age of seven before discovering electronic music through Jean-Michel Jarre, and bought his first DJ decks in 1999. His earliest commercial releases came in the late 2000s, including the Cape Town production duo project whose 2008 album Aviateur was an early uplifting-scene critical success. The breakthrough as Ferry Tayle came in 2009-2010 via Will Holland's Enhanced label, where the Static Blue collaboration "L'Acrobat" (2010) quickly became an uplifting anthem. He went on to found Always Alive Recordings as his own label — a home for the more melodic, orchestral-leaning end of the genre — and his second studio album The Wizard arrived on Always Alive on 7 July 2014, a multi-collaborator set with Driftmoon, Daniel Kandi, Hannah Ray, Suncatcher and others that remains the most-cited single statement of his catalogue. He has continued releasing through Always Alive and into the FSOE editorial orbit across the years since. Within trance Ferry Tayle sits in the cinematic / orchestral uplifting lane — the lineage that runs through Driftmoon, Darren Porter, and the Always Alive / Abora cluster, distinct from both the FSOE 138 mainline and the Anjunabeats progressive school. The Always Alive imprint he runs is itself one of the defining homes for that aesthetic, and the catalogue he has built across roughly fifteen years gives the lane its through-line.

Sound Style

Orchestral-leaning uplifting trance — strings-pad architecture, long melodic builds, and conceptual album-length structures that lean closer to film score than peak-time DJ tools.
