Marlon Hoffstadt

Berlin DJ/producer (b. 1994) who pivoted from deep-house origins into a hard-house / trance-revival lane under his "DJ Daddy Trance" alias — the "It's That Time" (2023, Method 808) viral catalyst was named the year's biggest dancefloor filler and made him Billboard's No. 1 Most Played DJ at ADE 2024.

Biography

Marlon Hoffstadt is a Berlin-born, Berlin-based German DJ/producer (b. 1994) who has been working in dance music since 2012. He started attending Berlin parties at fifteen and produced his first EP at seventeen during his A-levels, releasing the debut "You and a Love Stoned Ghost" EP on the Berlin imprint EVAMORE MUSIC in 2012; the 2013 collaboration "Shake That" with Dansson became the most-Shazamed track in Ibiza that year and earned him an early "future star" call-out from BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong. By 2013 he had also signed to Capitol Records via a Goodlife / MC3 partnership. Across the 2010s he released widely on Stil Vor Talent, OFF Recordings, Play It Down, Suol, and his own imprints WellDone! and the deep-house focused Retrograde. The editorial centre of gravity shifted decisively in 2017 with the launch of Midnight Themes — his Berlin label and the home for the "Planet Love" debut album in March 2020 — and then again, more visibly, with the 2023 reinvention as "DJ Daddy Trance". The single "It's That Time" (released April 2023 on Method 808 at 147 BPM, described by press as "2023's biggest dancefloor filler") generated remixes by Dimension, Kolter and Fisher, crossed 50 million Spotify streams, and turned the alias into a touring entity in its own right. The 2024 "Tell Me Daddy" (with Coach Harrison) extended the format; the July 2025 "All Yours" EP, anchored by "Turn It Up" with UK producer Jacob Manson, kept the lane open. Billboard ranked him the No. 1 most-played DJ at ADE 2024. Within the scene Hoffstadt sits at the trance-revival edge of the post-2022 hard-house wave — the lane where the Method 808 / Repopulate Mars / Sara Landry adjacent rave revival meets the chord-stab and breakdown architecture that the classic-trance catalogue invented. The "DJ Daddy Trance" alias is the explicit framing device: he runs the project as deliberate, knowing rave-anthem nostalgia rather than period reverence, with the phone-free Savour The Moment events at Berlin's Salon Zur Wilden Renate functioning as the live home for the same sensibility.

Sound Style

Hard, fast 140–150 BPM dance music that fuses hard-house pump, classic-rave whistle and chord stabs, eurodance sentimentality, and the kind of melodic-trance break-and-drop architecture that the 2023–2025 revival has rewarded — produced primarily under the "DJ Daddy Trance" alter ego that frames the project as deliberate, knowing rave nostalgia.
