Biography

Andrew Liggett, recording as Sneijder, started as a 13-year-old bedroom DJ in Northern Ireland, regularly traveling to the Netherlands to buy Dutch hardcore records. The stage name combines his soccer fandom (after Wesley Sneijder) with his early hard-trance leanings. After years of club work, he built a small studio in 2009 and began the long process of mastering production. His debut trance track "Phuture" (2010) was championed by Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk and announced his arrival on the ASOT and Subculture circuits. Through the early 2010s, releases on Spinnin', Discover Records, and Subculture established him as a leading voice in the tech-trance revival — a producer whose sound bridges the harder, faster end of contemporary trance with the hoover-stab and rolling-bass DNA of late-1990s hard trance. In 2016 he founded Afterdark Records, a Black Hole-distributed imprint focused exclusively on tech and hard trance. The label's compilations and the Afterdark EP series (which began in 2017 with the Hard Trance Classics retrospective) have carved out a credible home for the harder side of modern trance, signing David Forbes, Activa, John Askew, and others. The Distant World monthly radio show on Afterhours.FM has run since around 2012 and remains the central forum for Sneijder's editorial voice. Sneijder is a regular at FSOE, Subculture, Coldharbour, and Group Therapy events globally, and his sets typically open with Pure Trance / 138 material before pushing into the harder Afterdark register that defines his identity. For listeners drawn to the harder, faster wing of modern trance, Sneijder is one of its most reliable champions.

Sound Style

Tech-energy trance with hard-trance DNA — fast 138-140 BPM tempos, rolling basslines, hoover-style synth stabs, and peak-time energy that recalls late-90s Tunnel/Tunnel-Berlin hard trance updated for the modern festival mainstage.
