Biography

Sean Tyas, born in New York and now based primarily in Frankfurt, is one of trance's most technically respected producers. After years of underground production work, his 2007 track "Lift" became an instant peak-time anthem — its punchy bass, synthesised hooks, and reference-level mixdown setting a new bar for what tech-uplifting trance could sound like. The track was widely championed by Armin van Buuren and quickly became an ASOT staple. His Tytanium Recordings label, founded in 2008, became a hub for technically-minded tech-uplifting and progressive trance, signing artists like Darren Porter, Activa, and Standerwick. The Tytanium Sessions radio show, running for over a decade, helped define the modern tech-uplifting palette. Albums like Degrees of Freedom (2012) explored the full range of his sound, from peak-time anthems to deeper progressive workouts. Tyas has also been a sought-after collaborator: his work with Bryan Kearney, Simon Patterson, Giuseppe Ottaviani, and others has produced some of the era's most-loved tech-trance records. He is widely regarded as a producer's producer — frequently cited by other artists when asked which contemporary producers they study and respect. Live, his sets are characterised by relentless drive and surgical mixing. He has played every major trance event from ASOT and Luminosity to Tomorrowland's ASOT stage. While he does not court mainstream attention the way some of his peers do, he is one of the most widely respected DJs in the genre's harder community, and his back catalogue is essential study for anyone interested in modern trance production.

Sound Style

Engineered, modular-feeling tech-uplifting trance — every element placed with mechanical precision, peak-time tracks built around hooks that catch instantly. Sound design is forensic; mixdowns are reference-level loud.
