Cold Blue

Cold Blue is the trance production alias of Tobias Schuh, a German producer active since 2006 whose catalogue has run through Black Hole Recordings (and its In Trance We Trust sub-label), Future Sound of Egypt, Subculture, Kearnage and Damaged. His debut single "11 Days" — a collaboration with Del Mar released on In Trance We Trust in 2007 — was supported by both Tiësto and Armin van Buuren, and the follow-up "Seven Ways" (also with Del Mar) consolidated his place on the late-2000s ITWT roster. The defining trait of his catalogue is a self-described "quality over quantity" approach: releases are spaced out, and the long-form artist albums have been the primary output of the past decade. Three landmark studio albums on Black Hole — Winter (2019), Summer Chills (2020) and Mountain (2025) — mark him out as one of the few producers in the genre who actually completes coherent album-length statements rather than dripping out singles. His releases land regularly on A State of Trance and across the broader Black Hole / ITWT compilation network. Within the German trance scene Cold Blue sits in the classical melodic-uplifting lineage that runs through ITWT and Black Hole — distinct from the Paul van Dyk / Vandit Berlin tech-trance line, distinct from the harder Kearnage 140 BPM lane, and closer to the patient pad-led arrangement school that the late-2000s ITWT roster defined.
