Biography

Davey Asprey is a UK-based trance DJ and producer from Walsall in the West Midlands, born 13 May 1986. He built his appetite for music young — steered by his mother's New Wave collection — and his early interest in electronic music progressed into trance, eventually leading him to Ibiza to see Eddie Halliwell at Amnesia. His first gig at Nailed in Leicester opened the floodgates, and a decade of UK underground residency work followed before his releases broke internationally. By 2012 he had already been named BPM Artist of the Month and BPM DJ of the Year. The catalogue's editorial breakthrough was 2016's "The Rapture" on Aly & Fila's Future Sound of Egypt, which hit Beatport's top ten sellers of the year. The 2017 follow-up "Fallout" on Armada / A State of Trance became one of the defining tracks of that year, appearing on the ASOT 2017 Year Mix. Subsequent releases span Markus Schulz's Coldharbour Recordings — where he sits in the core circle alongside Schulz himself and KhoMha — plus Black Hole Recordings, Armada Music, and Damaged Records (the 2023 release "Edgerunners"). The 2025 Coldharbour release "Echoes of the Future" was credited as "Davey Asprey presents kaimira & Poly Powder", extending his catalogue under an alias-presents project format. Within the trance ecosystem Davey Asprey sits in the British tech-uplifting wing — the lane defined by the Coldharbour editorial direction, the harder side of FSOE, and the Damaged / Subculture peer circle. His sets have placed him on Dreamstate, Luminosity, and the broader Armada / FSOE festival schedule across the 2010s and 2020s. He is one of the steady second-tier names — not a chart-headline producer but consistently present across the labels that define the modern uplifting and tech-trance lane.

Sound Style

Uplifting trance with the percussive, tech-leaning architecture that the Coldharbour editorial direction has refined under Markus Schulz — driving 138 BPM arrangements, melodic-emphasis breakdowns, and the kind of peak-time structural craft that the British harder-trance scene has cultivated across the 2010s and 2020s.
