Will Rees

Will Rees is a Welsh trance DJ and producer — sometimes nicknamed "the Welsh Wizard" — specialising in uplifting and tech-trance. He grew up in Wales listening to his older brother's CDs in the late 1990s and studied music technology at college from age 18, then took up a residency at Swansea's Escape (one of Wales's flagship trance clubs at its peak) by age 20. That club residency is the foundation his production career grew out of, with his first commercial releases following in the early 2010s. His catalogue runs through several of the modern uplifting and tech-trance label homes: Aly & Fila's Future Sound of Egypt, John O'Callaghan's Subculture, Bryan Kearney's Kearnage Recordings, Mark Sherry's Outburst, plus Black Hole and Armada releases. He has remixed Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery, Bryan Kearney, Sneijder, Mark Sherry, and Craig Connelly across the catalogue. His 2025 run was particularly visible — the FSOE single "Fixation", the Outburst release "Invert", and the Allen Watts collaboration "Pendulum" (FSOE, 14 March 2025), which hit the No. 1 spot on the Beatport Trance Main Floor chart and was played as an ID on A State of Trance 1214. Within the broader trance landscape Will Rees sits in the tech-trance / hard-uplifting overlap — the same lane the Kearnage, Outburst and tougher end of the FSOE roster occupies. He's an itinerant touring DJ across the UK, Europe, North and South America rather than a festival-headliner figure, and his profile has grown specifically through that touring + 140-142 BPM peak-time production loop.
